Meeting in the European Parliament with MEP César Luena and CEPF

Leire Salaberria, General Director of the USSE and Edurne Lacalle, International Forestry Policy Advisor, have held a meeting in Brussels with César Luena, socialist MEP and Vice-Chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, and the European Confederation of Forest Owners (CEPF).
During the meeting, the representatives of the USSE have presented their views on the Nature Restoration Law proposed by the European Commission and which is currently being debated in the Parliament of the European Union.
The main message that USSE wanted to convey is that while European forest managers and owners welcome the Commission's ambition to advance current restoration efforts, we remain convinced that for EU forests this should be pursued by strengthening existing governance frameworks, supporting adequate funding and enhancing exchanges of locally adapted best practices.
